What comes to mind when you hear homeschool art?

A time-consuming elective that rarely makes the cut in your busy school week? Something you wish your kids had more time for? Sadly, that's what most of us think of art education.

As homeschooling moms, I know it's difficult to fit everything in. Something has to give. For most of us, that something is often things that take extra planning and time, like art.

But art is essential for all kids, if they see themselves as artistic or not. It gives tweens a different view of the world and lets them express themselves in a unique way.

If you're looking for art projects that your older kids will enjoy, but won't take much time to complete, give one of these a try.

Art education is hard to fit into a busy homeschooling day, but it's an important school subject for every middle schooler to work on. Even if you're pressed for time, your tweens and teens can complete these simple art projects with little problem. We spent a lot of time as a part of the virtual classroom that's listed as the 5th art idea and loved it. Middle School Art Projects For Busy Families

It's true that art projects take additional planning, but they don't all have to take hours to finish. These art projects are simple, but effective.

Most take around 30 minutes to complete depending on how detailed your teen gets. While working on these projects, older kids will learn all kinds of techniques, some popular with famous artists.

They also don't require a ton of specialized art supplies. In fact, you probably have most of them on hand already.

Most of our kids will not become artists. We just want to add some art into their education.

Instead of ditching art altogether because of the time-commitment, simply change your perspective and choose different activities. Leave the complicated multi-day art projects for when you have the time and your teen has the interest.

For your normal homeschooling weeks, add these quick teen art projects to your lesson plans to give your older kids the chance to set aside the book learning and do something creative.
